Preserving
The city of Bamberg is a unique urban masterpiece – the historic fabric of Bamberg's old town has been largely preserved in its original form to this day, and over 1,000 buildings are listed as historical monuments. This creates special conditions for urban development. On the one hand, Bamberg's historic heritage must be preserved, while at the same time, Bamberg must be a future-oriented city, prepared for the challenges of our time. The projects in the measure "Preservation" contribute to this.
Moving
The historically evolved urban space in the World Heritage city of Bamberg presents a variety of challenges. We have combined several data-driven solutions for improving people's movement and orientation in the "Movement" measure. This allows us to address these challenges with a holistic approach.
Participating
The measure "Participating" is all about actively participating in life in Bamberg and making it more accessible and attractive. Various topics such as digital transformation, health, family friendliness, inclusion, and civic engagement are addressed. The goal is to improve shared life in Bamberg for everyone through the use of digital tools.
Informing
The focus of the measure "Inform" is to promote a flow of information and data. Making data usable opens up a wide range of new opportunities for the people of Bamberg. Processes become faster and more efficient, while important information is made available to everyone. Urban development policy decisions can be optimized and made more transparent and understandable based on data.
Research & Practice
As part of feasibility studies, test balloons, student work and entire doctoral projects, the Smart City Research Lab at Otto Friedrich University is dedicated to the various issues surrounding the Smart City.
