Advantages of MoMM
- Other route planners do not take mobility restrictions into account
- But Bamberg’s old town in particular has many barriers
- With MoMM you can find out, for example, how to get from Eastern Bamberg to the cathedral in a wheelchair

Everyone can move around freely in Bamberg according to their abilities. It doesn’t matter whether a person’s mobility is restricted for a short or long period of time. Everyone is aware of the various barriers in the city and knows the best way to get around them.
An existing solution from Kaiserslautern will be used for the backend (i.e. the data processing in the background). This is to be integrated into the mobility platform and app from Bamberg to create a joint application and meaningful combination of both projects. Alternatively, the data can also be integrated into other applications and thus made available to users.
The MoMM project stands for “Mobility for people with mobility impairments”. A digital application makes it possible to find barrier-free routes and paths through Bamberg. The database contains information on stairs, sidewalk widths and gradients, road surfaces and current information on roadworks. The degree of mobility restriction can be set individually and adapted to personal requirements. This means that people with temporary restrictions, e.g. with crutches or a baby carriage, benefit just as much as people in wheelchairs or with other walking disabilities.
„I am very pleased that we have already come so far with MoMM – the digital route planner for barrier-free routes through Bamberg. MoMM is a project that fits in perfectly with Bamberg’s areas of expertise in IT and digital health as a business location. We are setting standards that can be transferred to other cities. “
