Our vision for Bamberg

People in Bamberg use different types of mobility and combine them with each other. They simply plan their routes using an app. There they decide what they want to focus on when getting around – sustainability, speed or convenience. It doesn’t matter which means of mobility they use – everything can be booked flexibly and paid for with just one ticket.

Technology

The mobility platform and app are being developed in collaboration with Stadtwerke Bamberg. The integration of the various mobility providers will also be taken into account.

Project description

The project is divided into two parts: The mobility app can be used to seamlessly connect local public transport and private and rented means of transportation. This applies to both route planning and payment. At the same time, the mobility platform offers the municipality the opportunity to gain sovereignty over mobility data. The aim is to offer the municipality a platform in which street maps, data on timetables, sensor data for traffic counting, prohibited zones (e.g. for scooters) and data on public transport use are combined and managed centrally.

The mobility app in practice

  • Someone wants to go from Gundelsheim to Bug.
  • He uses the mobility app to find a suitable route.
  • A bus-only connection would be inconvenient and time-consuming.
  • Instead, he books a combination of bus and e-scooter – via an app and with just one ticket!
  • This means he is quickly on site and more flexible in terms of time.
