Digital information pillars, the BamBoards, are located both in public spaces and in selected buildings. They present relevant content for the respective location. Whether out and about in the city, in the town hall or other facilities – people can find useful information there quickly and easily. Even people without a smartphone have access to digital assistance, can find their way around more quickly and obtain information with just a few clicks.
The software behind the BamBoards is closely linked to that of the Bamberg app. It builds on an existing solution, the Soest app, and develops it further. The interface has a modular structure and can be adapted to the location of the individual BamBoard. Some content is displayed via an interface to existing websites, while other content is set by the operators of the respective location.
The BamBoards bundle information from various sources and present it via a user-friendly interface. Using an interactive touchscreen, interested parties can navigate intuitively through the content and find the information that is important to them. This varies depending on the location: for the BamBoard in the town hall, for example, a room plan and news from the city administration are useful, while the BamBoard at the concert and congress hall displays a city map and the current calendar of events, among other things. In the immediate vicinity of the BamBoards, WiFi also enables free Internet use with your own devices.
„We are very pleased to be able to use the screens to bring important information to the respective districts in a decentralized manner and thus directly to the citizens. In this way, we create easy access to important information from the town hall, cultural events or bus departure times. “
