Our vision for Bamberg

Newcomers, long-time residents and visitors alike can find information about places and activities that interest them or are important to them. With this information, they can get to know and experience Bamberg better. A community emerges that shares insider tips with others. People’s quality of life improves and they feel more connected to Bamberg.

Technology

The “Here & Now” map will be integrated into the Bamberg app as the “Your Bamberg” function and will not be a separate app.

Project description

An online map, filled and maintained by people in Bamberg. It shows places, experiences and events that would otherwise not be so easy to find. Especially non-commercial, functional or temporary places and activities can be displayed. You can filter according to your own interests, needs and location to see what can be found “here & now” in your own area.

Entries on the card could be, for example:

Opportunities for engagement and networking, such as associations and interest groups
Events from the independent cultural scene, such as temporary pop-up galleries or street concerts
Privately organized events, such as neighbourhood festivals or yard sales
Inclusive or family-friendly places, such as barrier-free toilets or baby changing facilities
Places to relax, such as a beautiful bench in the countryside or a sledging meadow

Project status

The idea stems from the city’s Family Advisory Council as well as the civic society. It was submitted as part of the think tank in October 2021.

The idea is developed further since fall 2024 and is put out to tender together with the Bamberg app in April 2025.
