People in Bamberg eat healthily and sustainably. They network to take action against food waste. They draw attention to this important topic and create space for exchange. An active community is created through joint cooking events and activities. By consuming regional food, the tradition of urban horticulture in the gardening city and thus part of Bamberg’s world heritage is strengthened and secured for the future.
There will be no separate app. Instead, the project will be integrated into the Bamberg-Miteinander.de engagement platform. This will be available to everyone from April 2026, find out more here.
The original idea of the project was: A digital platform brings together regional producers, processors and consumers. It provides information on products and their origin, simplifies the ordering process and makes it possible to purchase larger quantities in bundles from several small producers. It also creates space for exchange, events and joint campaigns – digitally networked, locally rooted. In November 2025, the city council decided at our suggestion that the project should be implemented in a different form, namely as an integration into the Bamberg-Miteinander.de enagement platform. The focus here is on avoiding food waste. For example, the platform is intended to offer incentives to increase the efficient use of food.
Similar ideas are put forward several times in the fall of 2021. After the think tank, the “meiessn” group (now the Bamberg Food Network) is formed to drive the project forward.
