Our vision for Bamberg

People with dementia can move around the city independently for longer despite their illness. If they do lose their bearings, volunteers help to find them and show them the way home. This avoids police interventions and also relieves the burden on care staff. Even more important, however, is that the autonomy and quality of life of those suffering from dementia is improved.

Technology

The application is expected to run via a native, cross-platform app.

Project description

The application will initially be introduced in the care facility of the new Sancurapark on the Lagarde site and further developed together with the staff. People with dementia can carry a GPS device with them if they wish. They define a safety zone in which they can move around safely. If they leave this safety zone, an app informs registered volunteers and care staff. The volunteers can then set off in search of the lost person.

What does the project improve?

  • People with dementia are found more quickly.
  • Their everyday life is more safe.
  • They have a higher quality of life.
  • Volunteers relieve the burden on nursing and emergency staff.
